PROJECT RECORD

Safer crossings & traffic calming

Pavement work, rapid-flashing beacons and high-visibility crosswalks are planned at 14 locations.

Pre-construction · July 2026 · see source date

The public record

The Highway Safety Improvement Program and Traffic Calming Street Improvement Project aims to make pedestrians more visible and improve crossings. The project page also lists a $1,394,087 project budget.

Published milestones anticipate final plan approval in July 2026 and construction beginning in September 2026. A planned date is not confirmation of field work or completion.

Project questions can go to Andrew Perry in Public Works at aperry@cityofartesia.us or 562-865-6262 ext. 223.

Questions to keep following

  • Which of the 14 crossings have been installed and activated?
  • How will temporary pedestrian routes remain accessible?
  • How will the City evaluate safety after installation?
A plan is a starting point. Published timelines are projections unless a source explicitly confirms a milestone. This page does not certify completion, expenditure, or outcomes.
