The public record
The City purchased the 1.43-acre site in October 2019. Plans preserve existing trees and add native and drought-tolerant planting, a community room, pavilion, educational areas and outdoor gathering space.
The project page reports $7 million in awarded grants from HUD, the California Natural Resources Agency and LA County park funding. Grant awards and the fiscal-year allocation above measure different things.
The published schedule projects construction from November 2026 through November 2027 and a tentative opening in December 2027. These dates do not establish that construction has started.
Questions to keep following
- What is the awarded construction contract amount?
- How will nearby residents receive construction and access updates?
- What operating and maintenance funding will support the finished garden?
